Conditional Product Next Event Estimation for Gaussian Process Implicit Surfaces

We analyze the failing cases of the existing Next Event Estimation (NEE) method for Gaussian Process Implicit Surfaces (GPIS) and propose a novel Conditional Product Next Event Estimation (CPNEE) method. Our work enables NEE for heightfield-like GPIS for the first time. Our method can be easily extended to general non-heightfield GPIS and MIS with existing sampling methods.
